Gastown was originally, the first core center of downtown, and the name comes from Captain John ‘Gassy’Jack Deighton.
In 1867, he settled in the area of present Gastown with his Aboriginal wife, and opened his first saloon.
As he developed the town prosperously, people decided to call it the Gassy’s Town’. Later, the name was revised

England’s popular Megazine has ranked English bay as one of the ‘top 50th most beautiful beaches in the world’,
stating Vancouver’s English Bay as ‘World’s second greatest stretches of sand’.
Walking through the Seawall(connection of Stanley Park to English Bay),
lies the open ocean with beautiful sunset, along with families and trendy people enjoying sports.

Shopping district, Robson Street
Featuring famous designer shops and trendy boutiques, the street takes up to three blocks locating between Burrard and Jervis street.
The entire street is filled with latest coutures style shops, and famous brand stores such as Armani and Louis Vuitton.
The street was named after former Prime Minister of British Columbia who reigned 1889 to 1892, John Robson.
Robson’s street was the core center of German culture and commerce of Vancouver at the end of World War II.
At that time, the street was called ‘Robsonstrasse’ by local, german residents and immigrants.
The name ‘Robsonstrase’ still remains in Robsonstrasse hotel, still located in Robson street.

Street of freedom, Davie street
Davie street is a popular street known as ‘gay street’ close to Vancouver’s west end.
The symbol of the street is a flamenco banner designed by local artist Joe Average,
designed with main symbol of gay, rainbow flags.
There is a gay parade held annually called, ‘Davie Street Parade Festival’ and it is the biggest gay parade
across North America.
The street is popular with restaurants, gay bars, clubs and variey of shops.
Compared to Robson street, Davie street is presented with more vintage and antique style.
